Licorice pizza records store9/28/2023 You and your girlfriends thought Scott Farnsworth was a total babe.After a day spent at the beach, you thought “stips and chips” were the best food ever made.Your mom colored her hair in the sink, bought her dishes at Alpha Beta and watched The Lawrence Welk Show every week.Your family’s big night out was either at Charlie Brown’s, The Velvet Turtle or Sam’s Seafood in Huntington Beach.You had a satin jacket with matching satin shorts and a hat.You made a “pig of yourself” at Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor.You would NEVER eat “Pop Rocks” and drink Coke at the same time for fear your head would explode.You were the “Ditto Monitor” at school, in charge of helping the teacher at the ditto machine in the school office.These were dance routines to tunes like “Billy Don’t Be A Hero” or “Silly Love Songs.” You remember …” I (point with both thumbs at your chest) Love (wrists crossed against chest) You (arm out-stretched, finger pointing at bored, squirming family).” You and your cousin did “shows” for your family. ![]() Your brother wore a puka shells necklace with Hawaiian shirt for his sixth-grade school picture.You attended “Charm School” that was held in the basement of Montgomery Wards in Huntington Center.Your brother was banned from wearing a Mr.You blew your entire back-to-school clothing allowance on one pair of Chemin De Fer jeans.The places I used to go with my family are mostly gone now and the things we used to do and wear have largely disappeared, but the memories of the particular time and place will make me smile.Here’s my list “You know you grew up in Orange County in the ‘70s if …” Growing up in Orange County in the ’70s was vastly different than it is for my kids in the 2000s.
